The nation is paying tribute to one of Australia's most celebrated poets, Les Murray, who has died at the age of 80. Arts Minister Mitch Fifield released a statement on Monday night saying, 'Australia, and the world, has lost a rare individual’ while offering his condolences to Mr Murray’s family and friends. Queensland poet Sarah Holland-Batt also remembered the poet, saying she was 'terribly sad to hear of Mr Murray's passing. A towering genius in every sense. Vale’. Mr Murray was also honoured as a ‘giant of literature, a beautiful, humble, funny, courageous, generous and gentle titan of Australian letters’, by Australian author Nikki Gemmell. ‘Les Murray’s words were a gift to us all. If only he’d won the Nobel – the last accolade due to him. Vale my dear, dear friend,’ she said. from Finance – syndicated | Daily Telegraph http://bit.ly/2GIf80k

Ransomware attacks on the rise

Cybercriminals are finding it increasingly easy to hold organisations hostage with the growth of ransomware and other tools readily available on the dark web. The Australian's technology editor, Supratim Adhikari, says the challenges for organisations are far more significant than for individuals, as entire networks can be locked or infected. The rise of bitcoin and encryption technology has fuelled the commodification of locking organisations out of their own information. from National | Daily Telegraph http://bit.ly/2GJjm7X

Australia shouldn’t accept Labor’s uncostable climate policies

Chris Kenny says ‘not too many people’ agree that the studio audience consensus in Monday’s leaders’ debate accurately reflected the outcome. Mr Kenny argues Opposition Leader Bill Shorten’s remarks, where he said it’s ‘not possible’ to put a single figure on Labor’s climate policies, indicates the potential prime minister plans to impose a cost on all Australians. The Sky News host says Australians shouldn’t accept uncostable policies. After the debate, 28 audience members said they would vote for Bill Shorten, 12 supported Prime Minister Scott Morrison and 11 others remain undecided.
