‘Vaccine hesitancy’ listed in top 10 global health threats

The World Health Organisation has listed 'vaccine hesitancy' in this year's top 10 greatest threats to global health. Immunisation prevents 23 million deaths every year, with a further 1.5 million which could be avoided if global vaccine coverage was improved. It comes as Australia sees a five-year spike in measles cases, with health authorities urging people to check their immunisation history. The WHO list of global health threats also includes air pollution, climate change, noncommunicable diseases, influenza and HIV.
