Ransomware attacks on the rise

Cybercriminals are finding it increasingly easy to hold organisations hostage with the growth of ransomware and other tools readily available on the dark web. The Australian's technology editor, Supratim Adhikari, says the challenges for organisations are far more significant than for individuals, as entire networks can be locked or infected. The rise of bitcoin and encryption technology has fuelled the commodification of locking organisations out of their own information.
