SpaceX launches ‘flying brain’ to ISS

SpaceX has launched cargo to the International Space Station in its Dragon capsule, including a robot with artificial intelligence known as the 'flying brain'. AI robot Cimon (pronounced Simon), has been trained to help German astronaut Alexander Gerst with experiments and will remain indefinitely on the orbiting lab. Genetically identical mice for research purposes and super-strength coffee for the crew, a new spare hand for the station's robotic arm, an experiment to measure plant stress in space and a study of a new cancer treatment also formed part of the cargo. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched the unmanned cargo from Cape Canaveral in Florida on Friday toward the ISS on a delivery mission for NASA, and is expected to reach its destination on Monday. from World | Daily Telegraph https://ift.tt/2yV9B5T

Aussie barbie shows we’re going nowhere

AT A party a few weeks ago, I witnessed a blood-boiling example of inequality. Through the entire three courses of dinner — for which the women had put together salads and baked desserts, organised decorations and gifts for the birthday boy — the majority of men remained glued to their seats as we milled among them, collecting plates, serving food and effectively waited on them, hand and foot. from MoneySaverHQ | Daily Telegraph https://ift.tt/2IBknxL

What it’s like to date a polyamorous guy

I HAVE post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I’m a naturally anxious person. At night, while some count sheep, I count the many ways in which things can go wrong. When I started dating a polyamorous guy, insecurities seemed inevitable (more so than usual; I’m monogamous). Surprisingly, the experience has been much better than any of my previous ‘relationships’. from MoneySaverHQ | Daily Telegraph https://ift.tt/2KmN9Ij

Harley-Davidson’s EU move a ‘kick in the pants’ for Donald Trump

Professor Ed Blakely has told Sky News Business that Harley-Davidson's decision to move production to Europe is a 'kick in the pants' for the president. The iconic motorcycle manufacturer announced the move in response to the president's trade tariffs. However, Professor Blakely said the move is not just due to tariffs on raw goods like steel, but because the EU and China have the power to boycott brands. from Finance – syndicated | Daily Telegraph https://ift.tt/2tT8ga9

Document reveals alleged misconduct by rural lender

The Commonwealth Bank's approach to farm debt mediation noted the need to protect its brand, a document before the banking royal commission has showed. The document was examined as part of the royal commission's investigation into how CBA subsidiary Bankwest dealt with a Queensland cattle farmer. Asked if CBA felt an imperative to settle matters at farm debt mediation, senior Bankwest executive Sinead Taylor noted she did not work in that area. The inquiry heard a Bankwest bank manager who inflated property valuations gave two unconditional letters of finance approval when the loans had not actually been approved and a number of times gave verbal commitments for finance. from Finance – syndicated | Daily Telegraph https://ift.tt/2tOFoQm

Banks’ valuation of farms laid bare in royal commission

The valuation of farms by Australia's banks has become a key issue in the banking royal commission's hearings into farming finance. This comes after the inquiry heard Bankwest told Melville Ruddy in 2013 to sell one of his two cattle farms as it tried to fix a bank manager's inflated property valuation. Bankwest knew in 2012 the bank manager had inflated valuations but did not tell five customers, including Mr Ruddy, where he was the sole valuer. from Finance – syndicated | Daily Telegraph https://ift.tt/2lITUpe
