NAB has defended its decision not to tell a Queensland grazier that an application for a hardship concession was available while drought affected her herds of cattle, forcing her to default on her loans. NAB Executive Ross McNaughton explained to the banking royal commission that he identified the situation as an issue of ‘business viability’, not hardship.
