‘So Unnecessary’: Winter Storm Conditions Continue in Anchorage

Thick snow fell across parts of central Alaska in the early hours of Sunday, December 17, making it the ‘snowiest year to date’ since at least 1953, according to local media. Footage posted to X by the National Weather Service in Anchorage shows snow falling outside their office after midnight Sunday morning. “This is so unnecessary,” they wrote in the post. On Tuesday, the city saw significant snowfall, including blowing snow that kept schools shut and caused several road accidents, local media reported, citing authorities. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning in the area until Sunday morning. Credit: NWS Anchorage via Storyful
