Florida Officials Survey Damage to Crystal River Following Destructive Tornado

Officials surveyed damage to Crystal River after a tornado barreled through the western Florida city early on Thursday, October 12. The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office said the tornado touched down in Crystal River at 2:26 am on Thursday and tracked approximately 3.4 miles through the county. Citrus County released this footage showing damaged homes and businesses, uprooted trees, and debris on roads. The tornado was one of two that impacted western Florida on Thursday. In a preliminary report, the National Weather Service (NWS) rated both tornadoes as EF-2, with wind speeds of 125 mph recorded in Crystal River and 115 mph in Clearwater. Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
