Officials surveyed damage to Crystal River after a tornado barreled through the western Florida city early on Thursday, October 12. The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office said the tornado touched down in Crystal River at 2:26 am on Thursday and tracked approximately 3.4 miles through the county. Citrus County released this footage showing damaged homes and businesses, uprooted trees, and debris on roads. The tornado was one of two that impacted western Florida on Thursday. In a preliminary report, the National Weather Service (NWS) rated both tornadoes as EF-2, with wind speeds of 125 mph recorded in Crystal River and 115 mph in Clearwater.
