Travel ‘Extremely Difficult to Impossible’ in California Mountains Amid Heavy Snow

The National Weather Service (NWS) warned residents in the Sierra Nevada mountains of “extremely difficult to impossible” travel conditions as heavy snow buried the region on Monday, February 27. Footage posted to the UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab Twitter page shows snow descending on Soda Springs, California, on February 26. “Dumping and gusty at our 4 pm measurement!” read a caption accompanying the post. The lab said they were expecting up to 9 feet of snow to accumulate by Wednesday. The NWS issued a blizzard warning and said heavy snow would continue to impact the region through March 1.
