Blowing Snow Causes Whiteout Conditions in Indiana

The Indiana State Police warned drivers to stay off the roads near Lowell on Friday, December 23, as blowing snow created hazardous white-out conditions. The National Weather Service warned of the adverse conditions and reported several interstate routes were closed due to “treacherous travel conditions and numerous wrecks” on Friday evening. A winter storm sweeping large portions of the United States and Canada brought frigid temperatures, including the first sub-zero high in Chicago since 1983, coming in at -1 on Friday, the NWS said.
