Crews Work to Clear Feet of Snow From Buffalo Streets Following ‘Historic’ Storm

Crews worked to clear streets of more than six feet of snowfall in the Buffalo, New York, area on Monday, November 21, following a historic storm. Videos posted to Facebook by Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown on Monday show snow-clearing efforts on residential streets across the city. News reports said Buffalo received as much as six feet of lake-effect snow over several days. On Monday, New York Governor Kathy Hochul said FEMA had approved an emergency declaration for counties affected by the “historic” storm. Buffalo Public Schools were closed due to snow on Monday, but City Hall remained open, according to posts from the mayor. Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia.
