Bed Frame Used in Precarious Pakistan Flood Rescue

Volunteers in Pakistan carried out a precarious rescue of a man and boy from a flooded house in the Swat District, a local NGO said. Footage released by the Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan shows the man and boy sitting in the bed frame as it’s pulled across above raging floodwater. The Alkhidmat Foundation called the rescue, “An absolute epitome of courage and true spirit of bravery.” Local media reported that more than 1,000 people have died since mid-June as floods caused by monsoon rains have swept Pakistan. The country’s planning minister, Ahsan Iqbal, has estimated that rebuilding could take at least five years at a cost of $10 billion. Credit: Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan via Storyful
