At Least 25 Dead Amid ‘Devastating’ Flooding in Eastern Kentucky

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and FEMA officials toured significant flash flooding in parts of eastern Kentucky on Friday, July 29. At least 25 people were confirmed dead as of Saturday morning, Beshear reported. Beshear said at least six of those killed were children. President Joe Biden approved a disaster declaration for the state on Friday. Governor Beshear said he flew over flooded areas with the National Guard and a Federal Emergency Management Agency official to see the “devastating” flooding and ongoing rescue efforts.Aerial footage posted by Governor Andy Beshear on Friday shows severe flooding in the community of Quicksand in Jackson, Kentucky.
