Democrat Candidates in Maryland Rally for Abortion Rights

John King and Michelle Siri, who are running on a joint ticket for governor and lieutenant governor of Maryland, joined an abortion rights rally in Wheaton, Maryland, on Friday, June 24, following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade. Video posted by King on Twitter showed him standing alongside Siri as she called for a special legislative session for “our bodily autonomy.” King, who served as US Secretary of Education under President Barack Obama, and Siri, who is the executive director of the Women’s Law Center of Maryland, were campaigning for the Democratic nominations ahead of Maryland’s primary election on July 19. Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
