Democrat Candidates in Maryland Rally for Abortion Rights

John King and Michelle Siri, who are running on a joint ticket for governor and lieutenant governor of Maryland, joined an abortion rights rally in Wheaton, Maryland, on Friday, June 24, following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade. Video posted by King on Twitter showed him standing alongside Siri as she called for a special legislative session for “our bodily autonomy.” King, who served as US Secretary of Education under President Barack Obama, and Siri, who is the executive director of the Women’s Law Center of Maryland, were campaigning for the Democratic nominations ahead of Maryland’s primary election on July 19.
