Sahara Sand Turns Sky Beige Above Portuguese Beach

A dust storm from the Sahara desert turned the sky above Amorosa Beach, Portugal, a gloomy beige on Tuesday, March 15. Drone footage filmed by Esther Meira Dias that day shows the hazy sky over the beach. The Laboratorio de Climatologia at Spain’s University of Alicante, which has been tracking the storm, posted satellite imagery showing it on March 15. They said the sand cloud, which started from a storm in Morocco, covered the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands on Tuesday, and was moving on to other European countries, as footage from the French Pyrenees showed.
