New South Wales SES Commissioner Carlene York has rejected media reports the organisation declined offers of help from the army in the lead up to the state's flood crisis. In a sign of deepening tensions between state and federal authorities, Ms York says the Australian Defence Force was on the ground before the Northern Rivers was inundated. Commissioner York said the ADF had made the offer “at a local level” to assist with sandbagging and doorknocking.
