Storm Corrie Brings Rough Conditions to Dutch Coast

Storm Corrie hit the Netherlands on January 31, with gale-force winds battering the coast and churning seas. The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute issued a yellow warning for coastal areas. The coast guard said two ships collided near the port of IJmuiden, with 18 crew airlifted from one of them. Flight-tracking information showed 281 delays and 135 cancellations at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Storm Corrie arrived just one day after Storm Malik, which killed at least two people in the UK and three in northern Europe.
