Woman Urges Neighbors to Get Out as Quake Hits Crete

The Greek island of Crete was struck by a magnitude-6 earthquake on the morning of September 27. The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre said the quake was one of 20 tremors in total within the space of five hours. One person was reported dead, and at least 11 were injured, local news said. In Heraklion, schools were evacuated and were due to be checked for structural damage. This footage depicts a neighborhood in Heraklion around the time of one of the earthquakes. “I don’t remember so strong an earthquake hitting Crete. Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
