Melbourne’s construction sites to reopen

Building sites across Melbourne are preparing to reopen on October 5 despite a growing COVID cluster at the construction Union headquarters. Four CFMEU officials have tested positive – forcing hundreds of workers into isolation, including union leader John Setka. The vaccine mandate remains in place for workers, despite the violent protests last week. The union claims the 'reckless behaviour' of the protesters led to the outbreak. Work sites will return to at least 25 per cent capacity following the two week shutdown.
