Lava Spews From Spain’s Cumbre Vieja Volcano

The Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma, one of Spain’s Canary Islands, continued to spew lava on Sunday, September 26, a week after it began erupting. This footage from Spain’s National Geographic Institute (IGN) shows lava and ash coming from the volcano on Sunday morning. Local volcanology agency Involcan said that figures recorded by the Canary Islands Geodetic Network showed a decrease in pressure within the volcano’s magmatic system. Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
