Ash and lava were observed spewing from the cone of La Palma’s Cumbre Vieja volcano Tuesday, September 28, as lava continued to flow toward the sea. This footage, posted on Tuesday, shows lava and ash spewing from the volcano’s cone. The source of the video, idafe.com, a website dedicated to paragliding in La Palma, said, “The pyrocumulus cloud is enormous and some ash has blown toward airport.” The source also posted a video the same day that they said shows heavy black smoke south of Todoque. Copernicus EMS said on Tuesday that satellite imagery indicated that some 589 buildings and 21 kilometers (13 miles) of roadway had been destroyed by volcanic activity since September 19.
