Drone Footage Shows Blackened Terrain Around La Palma Volcano in Spain

Drone footage posted by the Canary Islands Government Emergency and Rescue Group on Sunday, September 26, shows scorched land and smoldering ash in the areas near the erupting Cumbre Vieja volcano on the island of La Palma, Spain. According to official reports, the volcano remained highly active as lava and ash continued to spew on Sunday, a week after it began erupting. The Canary Islands Volcanology Institute said risk analyses were being carried out and stations would be installed to collect and control the ash fall following the volcanic activity. Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
