The Caldor Fire turned the sky a murky purple as it advanced toward South Lake Tahoe, California, on August 29. The 277-square-mile Caldor Fire forced residents in the Lake Tahoe area to evacuate on August 29. Evacuation warnings and orders were issued for parts of El Dorado, Amador, and Alpine counties that day, and a red flag warning was put in place. This video, filmed by Randi Toms on August 29, shows the dark sky above South Lake Tahoe. She captioned the video “#PrayforTahoe.” Fire officials released a smoke outlook on August 30, which predicted smoky conditions for South Lake Tahoe on Monday and Tuesday.
