Beaches Closed Due to Dangerous Surf From Ida in Orange Beach, Alabama

The city of Orange Beach, Alabama, announced area beaches were closed to the public under double-red-flag and storm-surge warnings on August 30 following the arrival of storm Ida. The National Weather Service said “dangerous” rip currents would be present in Gulf Coast waters throughout the week and warned people not to go in the ocean. Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
