China imposes stricter measures in response to increase in Delta variant COVID cases

An increase in Delta variant COVID cases has prompted China to impose stricter measures to manage the outbreak. More than 1 million people are under lockdown and mass testing campaigns are being introduced. The outbreak has already spanned 14 provinces in China – linking more than 200 cases. The World Health Organisation has warned countries to urgently contain the variant before it mutates into a deadlier virus.
