‘No hope’ for Victorian employees without JobKeeper

Victorian businesses have welcomed the Andrews government’s recent support package announcement but are calling for a JobKeeper package to keep workers afloat. According to Business Victoria, the government's support package will offer $250 million to assist small to medium business during the lockdown. CEO of the Victorian Tourism Industry Council Felicia Mariani says if the lockdown continues for more than seven days, people will be “devastated”. “Up until this point, when these lockdowns have happened, we’ve had the safety net of JobKeeper to protect the businesses, and indeed to protect the employees of those businesses,” Ms Mariani told Sky News. She said there is now no safety net for employees without income during the lockdown.
