There are reports the State of Origin season opener - which is scheduled to take place at the MCG in Melbourne - could be played in North Queensland because of Victoria’s COVID outbreak and lockdown. While nothing has been announced, the Queensland Rugby League has reportedly booked out The Ville Resort-Casino in Townsville on June 9 which is the same night as the State of Origin opening game.
