Heavy Snowfall Covers Ski Resort in Southern California

Heavy snowfall covered the Snow Valley Mountain Resort in Runnings Springs, California, on December 28, as snow fell across the San Bernardino Mountains. Footage posted by the ski resort to Facebook shows a snow plow moving thick snowfall from a road and limited visibility on the slopes. “As of 10 am, 9-12 inches of new snow has fallen and it’s still snowing,” wrote Snow Valley Mountain Resort. “Snowmaking resumed overnight and will continue around-the-clock so that we may open more terrain very soon!” The National Weather Service (NWS) had issued a winter storm warning for the San Bernardino Mountain area on December 28, warning of heavy snow, difficult travel, and falling tree branches. As of the evening of December 28, the NWS had forecast a total snowfall of 8 to 14 inches above 5,000 feet and 14 to 20 inches above 6,500 feet.
