Late September Snow Brings Wintry Chill in Springtime to Orange, New South Wales

A late snowfall settled on the New South Wales city of Orange on September 26, bringing a winter’s chill to a spring day. The Bureau of Meteorology said snow had fallen in the Central Tablelands and urged motorists to exercise caution when driving on icy roads. The band of cold weather moved north from Victoria, where the day before snow was observed at 400 metres above sea level and temperatures were up to nine degrees colder than average. Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
