Choppy Waters Make for ‘Insane’ Ride on the Washington State Ferry

Strong waves lashed a ferry going from Friday Harbor to Anacortes in Washington on September 25, making for an “insane” ride. Footage of the Chelan ferry shows a huge wave hitting and flooding the boat, reaching up to a car. Uploader @HowlinHusky wrote, “WILD WAVES: My INSANE ferry ride in the wind.” The National Weather Service had issued a high surf advisory for the area on September 25, warning of “large breaking waves of up to 14 feet in the surf zone.” Credit: @HowlinHusky via Storyful

Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
