Cheyenne Skies Orange as Mullen Fire Burns in Medicine Bow National Forest

Skies in Cheyenne, Wyoming, were an eerie shade of orange on September 26, due to the wildfires burning in the area. The Mullen fire in Medicine Bow National Forest had scorched more than 36,000 acres on Saturday and was fueled by strong winds. According to reports, mandatory evacuations were issued on Saturday for several areas across Medicine Bow and several roads were closed. The Laramie County Fire District #1 reported, the smoke from the Mullen Fire caused air quality issues across Cheyenne and west of Laramie. Video posted by the fire district shows Cheyenne shrouded in a thick cloud, and was estimated to have blanketed roughly 80,000 acres. Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
