Severe Storm Brings Lightning and Driving Rain to New York City

A severe thunderstorm brought heavy, driving rain, flashes of lightning, and growling thunder to the New York City area on Wednesday, July 22. The National Weather Service in New York warned of hazardous gusts of up to 60 mph in areas of Nassau County and the city boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens, and issued flash-flood warnings across New York City, Newark, Jersey City, and other areas.
