‘We Have Liftoff’: SpaceX Rocket Sends US Astronauts Into Space

The SpaceX Crew Dragon launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, on May 30, marking the first time American astronauts were launched into space from US soil in nearly a decade. This official video of the launch, from NASA, shows the countdown followed by the rocket’s ignition and propulsion into the air. The launch was originally due to take place on May 27, however it was delayed due to severe weather. Saturday’s launch was the first time NASA astronauts were sent to space in a commercially built and operated spacecraft, and the first manned launch from United States soil since 2011.
