Tram strike set to disrupt Australian Open

Melbourne commuters have been told to expect major disruptions on Tuesday as 1,500 tram workers strike over pay and working conditions. Tram drivers and customer service workers walked off the job on Monday morning for four hours. The Rail, Tram and Bus Union announced the strike would also go ahead on Thursday. Treasurer Tim Pallas criticised the strikes, saying the timing is “cruel” as the Australian Open is currently underway. Image: Getty
