Waves Crash Over Promenade in Pacifica, California

Waves crashed over the promenade at Pacifica, California after a rain band passed south of the area on December 26. A beach hazard warning was issued for beaches along the California Central Coast due to the risk of sneaker waves, large shore breaks and rip current. High tide at Pacifica hit 2.63 metres, or 8.63 feet, on December 26. “The skies have cleared but the Pacifica promenade is soaked from this swell and high tide!” Savannah Peterson posted to Twitter. Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
