Mobile detection cameras roll out in NSW

People texting and driving could now be caught out as mobile detection cameras are rolled out across New South Wales this weekend. Cameras will target illegal mobile phone use at 45 locations across the state from December 1 in an attempt to reduce road fatalities. A warning letter will be issued to guilty drivers in the first three months, but anyone caught after that will be hit with a $344 fine and five demerit points. Image: Getty

Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
