Police release CCTV footage in hopes of catching gangland murderer

A stolen orange ute may hold the key to finding the man who killed a known associate of drug lord Tony Mokbel during a spree of gangland gun murders. Homicide investigators said the hitman who shot Mitat Rasimi - a man linked to organised crime - failed to torch the stolen getaway vehicle which was allegedly used in the incident. Police believe the CCTV footage released will be a vital piece of information in tracking down the person responsible for the attack on Mr Rasimi in March.

Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
