The Victorian Catholic Church is facing at least 800 new legal actions on child sex abuse after new legislation allowed victims to sue the church and re-visit unfair settlements. The legal action is reportedly threatening the financial stability of religious organisations in Victoria. Claims are being prepared for the court seeking compensation for abuse by convicted paedophile priests and against the Archdiocese of Melbourne.
