Lower interest rates helped ‘stabilise’ falling housing market

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg says the lowering of interest rates has helped “stabilise the housing market” and boost clearance rates in Sydney and Melbourne. Mr Frydenberg said the lower rates also led to a “prices rise” in the housing market after “consecutive months where they fell”. Australians will learn on Tuesday whether the Reserve Bank of Australia will further cut interest rates.
