Thunderstorm Brings Rain and Lightning to Fairfield, Connecticut

Lightning, thunder, and heavy rainfall descended on Fairfield, Connecticut, on August 19, as severe thunderstorms came through the area, according to the National Weather Service. Local news reports said at least 2,000 people were without power due to Monday’s storms. Fairfield Police said the storms were causing “trees and wires to fall.” Fairfield HamletHub shared this footage on Instagram and reported seeing flash flooding “submersing cars up to their hubcaps” in the area. Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia.
