Thunder and Lightning Startle Shoppers Sheltering From Alabama Storm

The National Weather Service in Alabama issued a flash flood warning for the north-central Shelby and southeastern Jefferson counties on August 23 as thunderstorms swept through the area. Social media users shared footage of flooded roads and submerged vehicles in Pelham, an area south of Birmingham, where the weather service said over 4 inches of rain had fallen in a short period of time on Friday. This footage was shared on Twitter by user @Thebrewer1981, who said he filmed it outside Costco in Hoover on Friday. Credit: @Thebrewer1981 via Storyful
