Roads Submerged in Pelham, Alabama, as Heavy Rain Prompts Flash Flooding

The National Weather Service in Alabama issued a flash flood warning for the southern Birmingham metro area on August 23 as severe flooding was reported in parts of the city. Social media users shared footage of flooded roads and submerged vehicles in Pelham, an area south of Birmingham, where the weather service said over 4 inches of rain had fallen in a short period of time on Friday. Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
