Police Rush to Scene of Shooting in Odessa, Texas

A shooter killed at least five people and injured at least 20 others after driving around and “shooting at random people” in both Odessa and Midland, Texas, on August 31, police said. The Midland Police Department said the suspect was shot and killed near the Cinergy movie theater in Odessa. Police said the shooting in Odessa occurred near a Home Depot and the suspect took off in a USPS truck. At one point, police indicated there may have been two shooters in two separate vehicles, but police said the confusion was caused by the shooter using separate vehicles. “The issue with that was, you had the original vehicle and you had the mail truck. At one point we didn’t know that was the same person, but that is confirmed now. Same person,” police said at a press conference. Citing officials, local media said the shooting began in Midland and continued in Odessa. Midland officials told local media that the suspect was driving along I-20 and shot at multiple people, including a state trooper. Credit: Fernando Hernandez via Storyful
