Ney’s lawyer says he will defend allegations on the grounds of mental illness

August 18, 2019. A man accused of murdering a sex worker before stabbing another woman in the Sydney CBD has complained to his lawyer that he's not being given pain medication while behind bars. Mert Ney, 20, is charged with murder, attempted murder, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, intentionally choking with recklessness and common assault. Mr Ney's lawyer has asked the court to make sure he receives his medication. Mr Ney will be defending the allegations on the grounds of mental illness. (AAP Video/Hannah Higgins)
