Melbourne tram drivers to walk off the job on Friday

Melbourne commuters are being warned to plan ahead as thousands of tram drivers prepare to walk off the job on Friday. Employees are calling for a six per cent pay rise and for the transport operator to scrap a plan to bring in more part-time jobs. Trams are expected to stop from 10am until 2pm on Friday. Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
