I have never seen so much debate: NSW Premier refutes claims abortion bill was rushed

August 20, 2019. NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian speaking to media about a bill aimed at decriminalising abortion in the state. Berejiklian, responding to claims the bill has been rushed, says she has never seen so much debate or time spent on a bill. "I've been in parliament for 17 years and I can't remember a bill having so much debate in the lower house ... I can't remember anything taking so long," she says. Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
