We need hospitals that are safe: Hayes

August 1, 2019. HSU NSW secretary Gerard Hayes speaks to reporters in Sydney as thousands of public hospital workers plan to strike across NSW in a fight for increased security in their workplaces. "We're not harming patients with this action... we need to have hospitals that are going to be far more safe and secure," Mr Hayes says. "This is a starting point." Mr Hayes says the Department of Health has agreed to a trial of 15 extra security staff at Gosford and Wyong Hospital.
