Sydney apartment owners furious after being forced out of ‘toxic’ building

An apartment block in Erskineville, Sydney's inner west, remains abandoned with fears toxins still exist beneath the building. Apartment owners are still restricted from living in the building more than 12 months after it was evacuated. Toxic substances found in the building include heavy metals, hydro carbons, asbestos and contaminated groundwater. Owners are reportedly furious they are banned from entering their apartments, some of which are worth more than $1 million.
