Heavy rain lashed Barnstable, Massachusetts, on July 23, as the National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed a tornado touched down nearby. The tornado was confirmed in South Yarmouth around noon, the NWS said. The weather service also warned that waterspouts could appear near Barnstable. As of 4 pm on Tuesday, power outages caused by the storms were affecting 53,900 Massachusetts customers, including many on Cape Cod, according to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA). This video was filmed by Aidan Kenney, who said he captured it in Barnstable on Tuesday. “Rain is going in different directions every second,” said Aidan Kenney in his Twitter post of the video. The NWS said on Tuesday that it sent a team to survey tornado damage. MEMA said on Twitter that it was “not aware of any injuries from today’s storms.” Credit: Aidan Kenney via Storyful
