Proposal for Inspector-General to investigate allegations of Murray-Darling water theft

An Inspector-General will be appointed to investigate allegations of water theft in the Murray-Darling Basin, under a new proposal. Federal Minister for Water David Littleproud will push for states to accept his proposal for a 'tough cop', responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Basin with the power to hold governments and authorities to account over mismanagement. The proposal will be put forward to Basin-state water ministers on Sunday. Image: News Corp Australia
