Coalition ‘intent on blowing up’ intelligence committee: Keneally

Shadow Home Affairs Minister Kristina Keneally says the Coalition ‘seems intent on blowing up the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security’ to pave a new method of ‘managing national security legislation’. Senator Keneally told Sky News on Wednesday by not adopting every recommendation from the committee on the foreign fighters legislation the Coalition has taken a ‘dangerous step’ towards a ‘their way or the highway’ approach of governing. The foreign fighters legislation — which Labor supported in the lower house on Tuesday — will give the government temporary exclusion powers to ban foreign fighters from Australia for up to two years. The legislation will be debated in the Senate on Wednesday. Image: News Corp Australia
